Facial Enhancement Acupuncture

What is facial enhancement acupuncture

Facial Enhancement Acupuncture evens out skin tone, improves muscle tone and helps to improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles. It is a natural, safe alternative to medical and surgical procedures to help combat the signs of aging. It works by stimulating the circulation of Blood and Qi in the face which leads to improvements in muscle tone and helps to promote the production of new collagen and elastin which are the key elements of skin which decline with age. The treatment also addresses your overall health and any factors which may be affecting the appearance of your skin.

What happens during a treatment?

The appointment will involve many of the same elements as a normal acupuncture session. I will start by taking a full medical history and examination of your pulses in order to gain a full understanding of your overall health. The treatment will involve placing needles in your arms, legs and/or abdomen as part of a full body treatment before moving on to the facial acupuncture treatment. This is an important part of the treatment as it will address any underlying issues which may be contributing to any problems with your facial appearance.

The facial treatment then begins with cleansing of the face and neck, followed by the insertion of extremely fine needles into specific acupuncture points on the face. Then I will insert tiny intradermal needles along the length of any visible lines and wrinkles or any other areas of concern. The number of intradermal needles used depends on each individual and this part of the treatment is tailored to your specific needs. The needles will then be left in place for 10-15 minutes and after removal, a moisturising serum will be applied. The whole treatment should last around 1hr 30 minutes.

What can I expect after a treatment?

Some people will notice an immediate lifting of the skin following the treatment and then more noticeable affects on lines and wrinkles with continued treatments.

After the session it is advisable to not use any products or make up on the face until the next day. It is possible to have some bruising at the site of the needles, but this is usually mild and resolves within a few days. If you are having facial acupuncture in the lead up to a big event, then it is best to allow two weeks before the event for the completion of treatment.

How often should I have a treatment?

Ideally a course of 8 treatments on a weekly basis followed by maintenance treatments every 6-8 weeks. Of course, you can have treatments less frequently but the effects will take longer to become apparent.

Who is it not suitable for?

Cosmetic acupuncture is not advised for people who suffer from chronic migraines, uncontrolled high blood pressure or diabetes, those who have cancer, pregnant or breast feeding women or anyone who has a problem with excessive bleeding or bruising.

It is also not advisable to perform cosmetic acupuncture in people who have recently had cosmetic treatments such as microdermabrasion, laser resurfacing, or a surgical face-lift. If you have recently had Botox or fillers it is advisable to wait at least three months before carrying out facial enhancement acupuncture.

Who much does it cost?

A single treatment costs £65. Payment can be made at the end of your appointment by card or cash.
